Taxes

We deserve to know where our tax money is going.

I strongly support the position that the government’s first order of business is to protect its citizens. Taxes are a necessary burden to maintain essential services provided through the government (local or state). Tax dollars should be allocated to serve the public’s best interest.

On December 9, 2021, Governor Asa Hutchinson signed in law [S.B. 1, 93rd Gen. Assy., Second Spec. Sess. (Ark., 2021)] one of the most significant tax cuts in Arkansas. This law will reduce the State Income Tax, with the top income tax rate dropping to 4.9% by 2025. This law is a great step towards achieving economic freedom! I want to continue these efforts of helping our community find economic security by replacing the State Income Tax with a more responsible taxation system. I want to introduce legislation that minimizes the financial burden placed upon all Arkansans while promoting the American ideals of individual liberty and personal responsibility.

The Arkansas State Income Tax currently disproportionately penalizes the average citizen, and it should be replaced with a more economical tax system. Replacing the State Income Tax with a proposed Consumption Tax will allow for more equitable within our society since it is based upon the worth of an item.

Shifting the tax burden from essential commodities and services to luxury items will help install a more balanced and economically stable tax code. This plan will help Low-income families will be able to keep earnings, thereby giving them more Spending Power to purchase the items while allowing the higher-income families to contribute more proportionally through higher-end purchases. It is a tax plan that balances liberty of personal responsibility with compassion for our neighbors.

Taxation should be kept at a minimum. Your tax dollars should work for you and your future’s betterment, and our future is here today in our children. To continue in the tradition of helping the underprivileged and paving the path forward, our tax dollars should be invested in a way that will encourage and promote liberty for ALL Arkansans.
